Mission statement

CeaseFire Youth Initiative Inc. is a federally recognized 501c3 non-profit organization that was established and founded by Reggie Reg Davis, a 30 plus year radio/TV broadcast veteran and public servant, who lost his baby brother Vito Davis to gun violence. After the loss of his only brother, Reggie, along with other dedicated individuals are on a quest to find the solution to end senseless gun violence. Our focus is mentoring children, teens and adults on the importance of reducing overall gun violence.

OUR APPROACH

1.) Objective: Legislative Changes

  a.) Tracking ammunition purchases

  b.)  License ammunition sellers

c.)  Mental Health background checks for ammunition purchases

d.)  Create a tax on ammunition sells with revenue dedicated to assist victims of gun violence and create a gun           safety educational program

2.) Vision: Conflict Resolution

a.)  Target NW Detroit (as a model) to develop programs geared around conflict resolution, anti-bullying, mentoring of teenage boys, and detecting mental health issues

b.) Work with the Detroit Police Department to reduce gun violence in targeted areas

c.) We believe if we target the youth it will trickle up and ultimately lead to a reduction in gun violence overall

d.) To establish partnerships between community organizations, youth programs, recreation centers, elected               officials, and the Detroit Police Department

e.) Identify high risk youth and work on conflict resolution solutions

f.) Develop structured and supervised activities for teens between the hours of 3:00 to 8:00 pm
